Paving Alliance
FAQ

Straight answers.

Including the ones where the honest answer is 'we don't publish that number.'

Membership

What exactly is Paving Alliance?
A growing network of independent paving, concrete, and asphalt contractors who collaborate to increase profitability, streamline operations, and access shared resources. It's a contractor network — not a franchise, not a trade association, and not a private equity roll-up.
Do I give up ownership of my company?
No. Membership does not change your ownership. You keep your company, your name, your customers and your crews. Where capital is involved — which is optional and separate from membership — it is provided in exchange for a proportionate equity stake, and Paving Alliance does not require 100% ownership of your business.
Who can join?
Asphalt and concrete paving contractors, along with related service providers, who operate with integrity. Companies of all sizes are considered. The Alliance looks for owner-led businesses committed to high-quality workmanship and exceptional customer service.
How much does membership cost?
There is a joining fee, settled after approval. Paving Alliance does not publish a membership price list — what it costs depends on your company, so it's discussed directly rather than presented as a pricing table. Ask and you'll get a straight number.
How many members are there?
We don't publish a member count. Paving Alliance describes itself as an aspiring nationwide network, and we'd rather tell you exactly which companies we can name than imply coverage we don't have. Ask about your specific territory and you'll get an honest answer about it.
Will you sign up my competitor down the road?
Territory is one of the things worth discussing early, and it's a fair question to ask directly. It's also why membership is by approval rather than open registration.

Job Cost Portal

Do I have to use the Job Cost Portal?
No. JCP is available to members as an optional technology solution. Membership does not require you to change the software you run today, and nothing about your membership depends on adopting it.
What does the Job Cost Portal actually do?
It covers proposals and estimates, customer management, contracts and change orders with e-sign, labor cost tracking with burden and 8/40 overtime, invoicing with retainage, cost and profit analysis comparing estimated against actual, administrative tools, and reporting to PDF and Excel — from the first estimate to the final check.
How much does JCP cost?
Paving Alliance does not publish a JCP price list. Cost depends on the size of your operation and how you intend to use it, so it's settled in conversation.
Is the demo on this site connected to real data?
No. The interactive demo uses entirely fictional jobs, customers, employees and invoices created for demonstration. The public website is not connected to any customer account and displays no real member or client information.

Ownership

Is this private equity?
No. Paving Alliance states plainly that it is not private equity but a true contractor network for paving professionals. The distinction that matters in practice: it provides only the capital you need in exchange for a proportionate equity stake, rather than seeking control of your company.
What if I do want to sell or transition out?
There are several structures available, including full buyouts, partial equity sales, strategic partnerships, succession and phased exits, and earn-outs with transition roles. None of them is a condition of membership — most members never take capital at all.

Getting Started

What happens after I get in touch?
Three steps. You submit an information request. There's a follow-up discussion and an introductory call — described as pressure-free, and it's where you work out whether this is a fit in both directions. If approved, you'll receive a confirmation, settle the joining fee, and get access to member resources.
Do I have to take the assessment to talk to you?
No. It's genuinely optional. It's recommended mainly because it makes the first conversation far more useful — you'll arrive with a structured read on your own operation rather than starting from 'how's business?'
What happens to my assessment answers?
Scoring runs entirely in your browser. Your answers are saved to your device's local storage so you can close the tab and come back, and they are not transmitted to Paving Alliance unless you separately choose to contact us. Clearing your browser data removes them.
